Been watching the auctions - this really bugs me!

So it's "auction" season here in the states, lots taking place almost every week
Gorgeous cars and trucks, of course, but there's one thing that takes place after the bidding that's been bugging the shit outa me
The guys that move the vehicle off the auction block, usually push on the body of the car or truck, not the bumpers
I can't even imagine if one of these hulks managed to cause a dent in the bodywork, or worse, think Corvette, for instance
Some of the cars appear to be moving on their own, presumed that they are running
But why don't all motor off on their own power (I know, exhaust fumes ) and why push those that are not running, on the sheetmetal and not the bumpers
Please help me clear up the mystery
