Another one bit the dust

Post by 86_6series »

Oh no, BavAuto is down for the count.

Bought many parts from them over the last 30+ years and in my experience their customer service was the best.

I don't know about that linky (didn't go to BavAuto, went to Outlook...) but that would be very bad news indeed

I too have used them for many years, probably 30+ as well, back when they were called Bavarian Auto Service

Please check the link [-o<

Bavarian Autosport were Pacific SharkFest sponsors in the early years of the event as was BMP.
Both were very generous in their participation with product & gift certificates.

I doubt this is a case of "Death by Amazon." Any insight as to why?

A shame - their good name has certainly reached these shores. Maybe the owners have reached retirement? Sounds as if they are trying to ensure the business continues though :-k

Even though BMP Design technically closed, they had inventory left over for sale but not sure what's left.

Aside from the succession issue, I would have made some changes: upgrade product offerings to eliminate low quality such as "Uro", drop the printed bulletin in favor of all electronic dissemination, create a similar concept as "Insider Track Club" at Harbor Freight. The annual membership is a profit driver. Have some products such as oil filters on a subscription basis as these are repetitive orders or give case-quantity discounts.

Maybe someone has some insights or news about the end of this institution. I remember MG Mitten, Vilem B. Haan and others.

Just my thoughts.

I wonder if Mario Langston at VSR1 has any idea, at least he's in NH and also runs a BMW shop :-?

Just a thought, still a shame :(

I agree though, that printing and mailing out glossy paper catalogs is a bit of a thing in the past [-X

I am not sure if ECS Tuning bought them or not, but I do believe from a reliable source they purchased their remaining inventory.

Sorry to see them go, supported them for 35years.

Just received an email from BavAuto this morning, with the following text:

>>After 45 wonderful years, Bavarian Autosport closed its doors on Friday, March 8th.

In the interest of looking after our customers and carrying on Bavarian Autosport’s proud commitment to BMW and Mini enthusiasts, we reached out to our friends at ECS Tuning to see if they could lend a hand.

ECS Tuning has agreed to honor Bav Auto gift cards, and will be helping to fulfill all open customer orders. Additionally, ECS Tuning is offering Bav Auto customers up to a 15% discount on their first order with ECS. Both of those offers are good through April 30th and are available by calling ECS Tuning at 330-331-2340.

ECS has agreed to carry on relationships with the BMW CCA chapters we’ve been proud to support. Further, they are working to maintain and continue stocking a number of the Bavarian Autosport branded parts that you’ve relied on for years.

ECS has been very supportive since we made the decision to close our doors, and we encourage you to consider them for your parts and service needs.

Thank you again for your dedication and commitment to Bavarian Autosport over all these years. We’ve loved being part of your community.
<<

So I guess it's on to ECS tuning

Been using them as well, not much but increasing my use of these guys [-o<
