Hi all
I'm a complete and utter petrolhead from the UK and I love older metal, and the 6er was an itch I've been longing to scratch.
I became the proud owner of a late 635 Csi this weekend just gone.
I was torn between buying a nice M635 and keeping it standard and using it every day expect when the roads are being salted OR buying a normal 635CSi to use now and then in the winter do my own resto mod.
So I found the right car at the right money and resto mod it is. 1990 Highline/shadowline, honest car.
List of jobs to do:
Complete body restoration to completely standard appearance
17" BBS type 5 wheels (has anyone got some?)
Clever audio system that looks standard but gives modern functionality
graft as much running gear as possible from an F82/F83 M3 under the car, hopefully I'll end up with a 400bhp + paddle shift car on better suspension and brakes
Completely retrimmed interior possibly with the M3 seats?
I know the purists wont be happy with grafting modern stuff to a classic, but I want a retro one off with modern driving capabilities.

Welcome Hazy. Petrolhead, gearhead, motorhead, we’re all the same!!
To each his own as that is your car and it’s up to you whatever you want to do with it. Just realize these chassis were not designed for that level of power.

Very nice 6'er, love the color. I do have a question, I see your euro does not have an airbag, is that normal with the RHD cars?

Looks like a very nice "base car".
You mention the possibility of re-trimming the interior including changing the seats. All I would say is that the original seats remain the most comfortable on a long journey of any car I've ever had. My only criticism of them (on my car - 73k miles) is that there is very slight play/slackness in the seat backrest. I did have a go at seeing if this could be got rid of, but couldn't see any way to take up any slack.

Thanks. I don’t have any history, but can inform you it left the factory in February 1989. A fairly late example, but it doesn’t fit my requirement of an April car, so I can breathe a sigh of relief - and keep searching! Well you certainly found a great example to work with. It is a bit of a shame to so drastically alter a highline, but at least you aren't taking another //M off public roads.
