25 years today

Post by Tommys 89 635 »

25 years ago today I almost bought a e30 but the salesman showed me an e24. Took it for a test drive and needless to say I became the second owner (57k miles) of a 1989 635. It was my daily driver for years until retired for weekends and occasional driving in 2013 with 290k miles (original motor and trans, knock on wood). Throughout the years a few upgrades, BBS wheels, Dinan motor and trans chip, Dinan suspension with adjustable rear camber (except for ST sway bars), diff rebuilt, brake calipers, sport seats, stereo of course, recently changed the rear spoiler and almost an aluminum radiator but didn’t have the space for it (so back to oem radiator). Here’s a picture of when I bought it (pic not so good), original owner in Las Vegas and current picture from 2019 PSF.

Cheers all and have a great day

Bobbo,

I was set and close to buying a 1989 325is but then drove home with an e24. No regrets what so ever.
Ha, yes the 3 spoke wheels were 16 inch Anterra's (PO put those on). It was such a pain to get the center's off but glad I went with the 17 inch BBS RX's.

Thanks

Wow! That's a beautiful car. Almost 300k? You've been a supreme caretaker.

Thanks, I try to keep the original paint as nice as I can (one of these days, will take care of the rock chips), it's mostly under a cover in the garage. I think I have around 292k currently, it will be cool to see the odometer turn 300k. Hope to get her out and about.

Got to believe the car looks a whole lot better than the sash-wearing model does today. I'm not one to talk as I hardly look as good as I did 25 years ago.
