Found the perfect CB radio for an E24
I don't know if any of you have had a Citizen Band radio in the past, or maybe even still have and use one. I'm more oriented toward Amateur radio, but for short range communication it's hard to beat a CB (cell phones notwithstanding). Browsing eBay for a radio I came across this one. Perfect!

Well that brings back memories .
>40 years ago I had a source of ( illegal to use or own ) AM CB and Sideband radios from Italy . These had to be smuggled into UK in a lorry with greater caution than would be required for that well known white powder from Columbia .....
They sold like the proverbial hot cake and caused interference misery to anyone using a TV that happened to live within a 100 yard radius of the user .
Shark was one of the brands that we sold , Midland and Realistic being the other two main manufacturers .
The fad lasted a couple of years and then everyone went onto the next big thing and all those expensive ( ) CB's were consigned to the back of the shed for ever.
Legal FM CB's came along later but they never gained the kudos that Burt Reynolds brought .
Thanks for the memory .

I had a Tristar 777 on a slide mount in my Mach 1 Mustang with a K40 aerial and mic. At home I had a Sigma 4 aerial on a 20’ scaffold pole and a Bremi (Bremas?) 200 Watt linear amplifier. Had great fun both in the car and talking to other Sidebanders right across the World

I still have a Realistic CB in my 1987 Motorhome. I never hear anyone on talking on it in years and the truckers up here no longer use them. The police used to monitor Channel 9 but I doubt they do any longer. The radio has a weather band also so it is still useful. I have an older vintage one somewhere in storage bin also. I should put it on eBay!

I think I may have one or two CB radios around somewhere. I used them all the time driving up and down the east coast back in the 80's in my 3 series. I had a CB, stealth antenna, escort radar detector, and a toggle switch for the brake lights. Kept me awake on the long all night drives. Fun times.

I had a Fuzzbuster that I sold to a buddy with a motorcycle when I bought the original Escort. Still have the Escort. I had a CB in my Cougar for the 6 hour drive too and from college each quarter. Had to keep the Kojak's with a Kodak at bay...emac wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 2:33 pm I think I may have one or two CB radios around somewhere.
