That's frighteningly indictative of the type of owner of these cars when new .
All of that technology has been surpassed by a tiny portion of a microchip tucked away deep in the innards of any phone nowadays .

Sheesh, guilty as charged

This system was great when it was working (CD changer still works fine [-o< ) But I have to rewire the entire sound system, one of many projects lined up

I even have the home changer that takes the same 10-disk magazines \:D/

A person with a considerably greater disposable income than I had at that time .
I believe that in 1981 my E24 cost £23800 . Allowing for inflation that equates to £92000 or $120000 in 2019 .
I bought a three bedroom extended property in the same year for £21500 which equates to £83000 or $107000 in 2019 .
So I'd say it was the type of person who could afford a car that cost more than a pretty nice house .........

OK, in 1988 here in Rockland NY an M6 was going for a little over 60 big ones @ the Ferrari- BMW dealership.
I bought my 86 635 in 88 for $32.5 with about 23,000 miles. So yeah, needed deep pockets in those days.

I remember the Sony DiscJockey it was the Ultimate CD changer to own in the mid 80s. I feel like the 80s analog equipment was made much better then what we have now but the digital stuff is really nice.
