I should still have the contact info knocking around my office at work. I'll see if I can find it tomorrow. It was on autotrader.co.uk a few weeks ago, but the ad is gone now.

Who drives sixers...

Post by sharkfan »

How many mid-30's drivers are there of the NEW 6 series (excepting those who've been able to get them as Company cars...) that you've seen on the road?
Me, I've only seen guys in their 50's+ driving the new 6!
Met a guy in a local supermarket car park the other day with a spanking new 645i in black, mid 30's, nice chap, (own) company director; he was a lot more interested in my pair of sixes than chatting about his own new toy, especially as someone had seen fit to key the whole nearside of it whilst he'd been parked in a swanky Manchester Hotel car park the week before.
How many people in there mid 30's will be driving the new 6 series in 20 years
Lets not kid ourselves too much here chaps; there were equally strong howls of derision when the E24 followed the E9 back in the early seventies, and I have no doubt there is a generation of teenagers and early twenties guys and gals who think the latest Six is fine, fine thing.

Time is relentless, lest you should forget.

P.S. Open the boot and it does look like a Porsche 911 though...................

Must say the last BMW that I liked to look of was the E34.

I have days I like the E36, other days not so much.

The current 5 is horrible

Actualy of the current models the Z4 is OK and the 1 series is OK in the flesh, had a look at one at the recent motorshow, looks better than in pictures.

I have an E30 so my opinions on that are biased 8)

My favourite would be the E9 3.0Csi :D

But I do love the E24, more practical than an E9 and well now I have one

Just my crazy ideas, as always YMMV

Cheers,
Iain.

I think this is one of the smoothest, most cohesive BMW designs ever - the original was so good that very few bodywork modifications worked on it - I think especially good in touring form with 17 inch alpinas 8)

Well, seems we have a pattern emerging. I'm 38 (39 in 15 days time). My current car is my first 6 and first BMW - a 1986 Royal Blue 635CSi. I'll post a picture when I can.

BTW - this is back on e-bay again:

Yes, I'd say it is. :)

Mind you, it could just be that she thought my comments were funny.......... Or at the idea of me ringing on your behalf!
It would also be a nice car for her to drive, she likes grunt after all.
Andrea & Chris said to say Hi to her btw. :D

If you get it, we can both refurb our alloys at the same time & swap tips etc..... :D

Did you ever look any further into the LHD E34 M5 Touring I emailed you about sometime ago? It looked a real beaut to me :D

Just turned 32 in November. I bought my 1980 633csi about 9 years ago. She has 138,000 miles on her. I bought the L6 last November. She has 86,000 when I bought her but have it up to 93,000 now.

I am the proud owner of Usermail.com which is an Email Hosting company. I inherited Bigcoupe.com from Thom Anderson last March. The first thing I did was added this forum. I'm very happy I did. :D

This is the second year I have done a 6 Series calendar and an ///M calendar is in the works.

I found the info. From my hastily-written notes and failing memory:

- Needs bodywork -- the rear of the car is especially rusty, but there are bad bits all around
- Needs clutch work, the owner said. It seemed (and sounded) okay when I tried it, but the owner claimed it needs a throwout bearing.
- 154,000 miles
- No MoT, and the tax ran out at the end of November.
- Power assist on the brakes, uh, wasn't.
- Asking price was 3950. I'd say it was worth about half that, but maybe that's just me.

The seller's phone number is 07977 271 342, in Birmingham.

I've attached the pic that was on autotrader.co.uk, for what it's worth.

Thanks, I'll maybe phone him and go for a look, but the price does seem steep for a restoration project needing big buckets of cash spent. Not as steep as this though:-
