VIN No. 760287

It's a 2-owner car but sounds like the body needs a bit of TLC.

Seems priced to sell at ?5250 o.n.o. (without the personal reg)
It's been retro-fitted with electric seats as they were not on the original

build spec.
Has anyone on the forum actually been to see this car.......any opinions please......

The owner says it's a 1988 (E) car, but would have been built in 1987.

Built July '85. BMW fleet car. Clear glass/warning triangle and one of

very few fitted with a map reading light.Special prep./BMW sound system.

Not registered until 02.02.88 probably because it was such a shitty colour!

Would you have spent all that money on something that colour??
E48 FAN (0760340) was a BMW Press car too. It wasn't registered for about 18 months after it was built -and then to "Press & Demo fleet" at Bracknell. I called them and asked if they had any record of where it had been. "No." was the resoundingly helpful answer.

An Agate Green example has appeared on Ebay:

CLICKY

I love the description! It's got ?20K in bills and has just had a respray...

The wheels look like E28 M5 16-inch BBS.

I think it's VIN no. 760085 if I heard it correctly - perhaps Ron can confirm?
There certainly weren't many produced in this colour.

Interesting video, especially when the seller puts the heater fan on full and a cloud of dust and debris comes out... :D

May have more hidden issues, hence the big bills.

That video was painful to watch........., I was hoping he would get hit by oncoming traffic when he stepped out on to the main road to shoot the car.

Here's an early black one in Devon:

If it's the car I think it is, the seats are houndstooth cloth Recaros.

Munich Legends had this car for sale a while back. It's number 305 and was one of the cars photographed in James Taylor's "Original M-Series" book.

Nice looking car

The car on the airfield at the beginning of the program belongs to

"Sohlman" a longtime site senior member.

Did you notice that the so-called "mechanic" tightened up the upper

control arms with the car still in the air!!

Wonder how long the bushes lasted?

Did anyone ever see the episode of 'Classic Car Club' when Penny Mallory drove an early black M635?
IIRC it had houndstooth cloth Recaros and some rust issues including the bonnet and roof...

I thought that at least one of the 3 cars they showed had to be somebody on this site.

A an ex-pat and a very rare kiwi:

760314

700030

760314 sold for almost ?14K which is strong money considering the mileage and cloth trim.

700030 is a very early NZ car and looks in superb condition.
What's the colour of the interior? Olive? I like it anyway.
Not sure if it sold though. What does 'passed in' mean?

It didn't reach the reserve price

Which was in the mid A$30's as the car was passed in for circa $32K almost 2 years ago

It is still for sale for A$42K, I'd post the link if I knew how...

The car is owned by the current head of Toyota design in Australia, who happens to be the former head of Nissan Motorsport from back in the Group A/Turbo Skyline days of the late 80's & early 90's. FWIW he actually told me that the R32 Skyline used the E24 shape as inspiration.

The car is an original UK delivery, brought out to NZ in the late '80's by a UK immigrant. The current owner purchased it as a "roughy" from NZ and exported it to Oz in late 2003. He has refurbished the car and it does look lovely in the flesh, until you look in the interior...

Don't get me wrong the interior is in great nick it's just that the Nutria colour looks olive in that car, and I have spoken to 2 people who were interested in buying it until they realised they couldn't live with THAT much green.

314 is also an original UK car that was exported to NZ in the mid 90's and stayed there for around 10 years before being bought to Oz. The fellow who sold it at auction owned it for much of that time, keeping it in NZ until the car was old enough to import.

BTW A$25.5K for an M635 with a history and without significant rust issues is cheap in our fair land.

Does that mean the VIN is actually 760030 if it was a UK-spec car?

I seem to remember that the UK was supposed to have accounted for 0760001 to 524 inclusive.

Yeah, it's a misprint on the site, all factory RHD cars were 0760---

Not sure if that is correct,

I think 0760.... just refers to a RHD car. My car was not produced for BMW GB. It was exported from the factory to Malawi, although it never ended up there ( a paper exercise to facilitate a tax dodge). The car was actually driven from Munich direct to Jersey by the original owner.

BMW GB have no record of my car in their system, but it still has the 0760... chassis number.
