Great to meet happy E24 drivers again, or for the first time. Here are some snaps I took.

Great photos whiskeydry, thanks for posting.

Car no.004 looks beautiful, I love the colour. Is the owner a forum member? Any more photos of it?

I couldn't make it this year due to work. It would be great if at some point in the future we can get my car No. 524 (the newest) and no. 004 (the oldest) together for a photo.

Has anyone any more info on chassis 003. Last I heard the restoration had stalled.

Thanks for your kind words, Bayerische. Here are a couple of other shots of #004. The car came off the line 12th Oct 1984. I understand that the car was owned by the late Stuart White. Stuart's father offered the car to the local motor club in Darlington and that is how the current owner (Phil) bought it about a year ago. He has fitted a new front bumper recently and will fit a new rear bumper in a couple of weeks, both brand new direct from BMW.

We looked closely at the car and it appears to be very original and as far as we could all tell still has its original front wings! Colour is Sable Brown Metallic with Pearl beige leather. I believe that #259 was the only other M635 that had this body colour and that car may no longer be with us, as it has been off-road a long time.

Thanks for the back story on 004 and the photos Phil, good to see that such an early car is in good health.

an online album of general Gaydon meet/heritage photos is here;

https://www.icloud.com/photostream/#A1GqkRUiG8QFV3

(for a few months at least) as taken by Paul, a chum of Steve Curtis (who came not in his 6er, as any right thinking chap would have, but in his two tone 7er E23, of which there are a few pictures therein).

I was tempted to dub the heritage museum display as 'the hall of broken dreams' because there are so many obscure prototypes in there, that never saw the light of day, from long extinct makers. Of particular interest to me (as a former mini owner) are a couple of mini-based sports car prototypes; Daihatsu Copen etc, eat your heart out...

cheers

Incidently ....in my M6 the 180 miles round trip was completed at 24.9 mpg (uk). Conditions on the M40 allowed some v good speeds.

some of you may have wondered how it was possible for a red car to look quite as bad as mine did. Full story here;
