PH Sunday Service 20th March 2016 Mercedes Benz World

Post by JohnRogers »

It is showing on the MB calendar that the next Piston Heads Sunday Service will be at MBW on 20th March. ............However PH have not yet opened their lists - which you need to be on to get onto the PH parking area. So keep watching the PH site.

well that is weird, that event doesn't appear on the calendar right now. BTW I have signed up for the Bruntingthorpe meet (+75 but who knows, I might just wing it...)

cheers

PH will not save parking spaces for car groups. On-arrival parking is their formula. Meeting elsewhere in advance is often a problem because we all have different travel plans etc.
So perhaps we might arrange to get together at a fixed time. Say 10.30? At the South / track entrance - by the coffee shop?
I shall be there unless there are any other ideas. Do make a posting.
I will PM my phone number for anybody wishing to get in touch.
Regards, John Rogers
(Currently 46 on the list. Brucey would seem to be hidden number 9 at present).

I now live about 10 to 15 mins drive away from Weybridge. 10:30am would appear to be quite late as all the cars have to be clear of the site by 2pm that day.

Brucey, do you still want the towbar and its gubbins?

I think John means to meet up on foot there rather than park up en masse?

I'd love to be able to turn up for this, but alas I am not a P'Header.
Do enjoy yourselves, chaps. Some pictures would be nice.

10:30 at the South Entrance / Coffee shop sounds good.

The tow bar stuff fits in an E24 boot Brucey but I've yet to choose which car to take.

Nice to meet up with a group of E24 owners. Very cold day and PH screwed up their check in so that it was taking 20 minutes to get to parking. After 10 minutes queuing I got to the MBW gateway to see my registration number illuminated inviting me to turn left into the MB car park. So went straight to the nearby building where we stayed for 2 hours. MB have considerably extended their loan collection and there were some very splendid cars from pre 1980. The very new C Coupe looks pretty smart but has poor rear seats. E24 is much better in the second row. Shame that PH managed so badly. Got to hope they do not give up. These really are very good events which attract many great cars. Meeting up for coffee were Brucey, Ted Robinson, Bob Gray, Phil Over and Sharkfan (must get name correct – sorry). Oren Payton arrived later on. Brucey showed me the final details of the Boot / Trunk spring mystery which I will post separately.

Great to catch up again, however briefly. I didn't take an E24, instead dragging along my E34.

Bob's car is indeed lovely and a credit to him; that it wafts him down and back to Italy every year is fantastic and proves that 40 years after the E24 was introduced it still deserves its Grand Tourer credentials.
