rear brakes

Post by Noct »

Been reading up on the threads and excellent links here before having work done on my rear brakes. When my mechanic looked at them he said that the rotors have a pretty good lip on them and ought to be changed too.

I'm thinking of an e34 rear brake upgrade, since I drive a fair amount down hills in SF. I don't know that the front brakes really need a change but from what I understand, too powerful rear brakes compared to the fronts may cause a problem.

I would prefer to do a minimal amount of changes to improve things, so I'd like to know how to check that the front is in good shape. And to start with, would I be in good shape with e34 calipers and rotors (300/20) and the stainless steel braided lines? If I am only doing the rears, will the change in pedal travel be insignificant? Thanks guys. 8)
