Can anyone tell Me If This Looks Right Please

Post by Ozibimmer »

Hi Guys
I am converting the racecar to left hand drive and I am trying to sort out the pedal box.
Can anyone tell me if this is right. I am replacing the Clutch master as it is leaking. I am worried about the way the return spring is.

You have it correct. The tab on the backside of the pedal is for the spring, the tab in front side for the master.

The white plastic end of the spring goes against a raised ridge to allow for pivoting during operation. It is not secured in place and can fall out.

Check the condition of the threaded rod connecting the spring to the pedal. Usually bent and can break soon after that.

The spring hardware arrangement is exactly how I have it.

There's a guy on mye28 that sells a reinforcement kit for the pedal box. Best to protect the one you have before it cracks. See if you can fabricate something similar to his piece.

Addam, Ralph is 100% right, you should get a reinforcement for the pedal bracket now that it is off the car. Mine was cracked when the master cylinder of the clutch snapped off, I got a reinforcement welded on the bracket, silly me for not having taken a picture, the guy who did mine did a fantastic job and you wouldn't know it has been reinforced, it will not crack again!!

It is a common issue with our cars and it is the right time for you to take preventative action.

Brake pedal spring is not correct. That tab is for the brake booster rod. I can't remember if the Brake Pedal gets a return spring.

The clutch has that spring return you already have installed.

I think that spring is for the accelerator pedal. I'm not near the car now so I can't look until later in the week. Hopefully someone else can chime in.

Be careful with the plastic nipple on the clutch master. Better to put the hose on the piece then install into the master. The plastic nipple gets brittle and cracks easily so better to purchase a cheap spare to have on hand before you need it.
