ABS SENSOR / BOSCH PART NUMBER?
Hi,
Does anyone know the Bosch part number for the ABS Sensor pictured below:
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showpar ... 4521179981
I'm going to try BOSCH direct as I cant source a new one anywhere.
I don't have access to my car to look at the single sensor that i do have.
Pete

that price is pretty good IMHO. Not used them as suppliers though.
Bosch; 0 265 001 038 (WS1038, XZ317043)
BMW; 34 52 1 154 064, 34 52 1 179 981
you can find this info out using the Bosch website but because the data is within a portal, it doesn't come up in a web search. It isn't even that easy to find it once you are in the right part of the website, either...
cheers

ABS! HEADACHE.
Still had no joy whatsoever sourcing a new sensor - the parts are discontinued from BMW. I tried going via a BOSCH dealer and they couldn't get it either.
I'm considering sourcing another suspension strut with everything intact.
Major headache and MOT fail.
Got my middle exhaust section replaced with a custom stainless Powerflow btw.

Is there a way to remove a sensor without wrecking it? I've got a working one doubtless very securely attached to a rusted-out front strut. The strut is scrap, so doesn't matter if it gets damaged, but I'm not convinced that grinding around it will produce much joy.
(Brucey, this is the front strut from the M: beyond the help even of the Brucey magic!)

I haven't tried it like that: rotating both ends makes sense, although the walls of the sensor are very thin and deform (then break) easily. will let you know if there's any chance of movement, but once you see a pic of the upright you won't be encouraged!
As an appendix to this: the rears are okay if the hubs are removed (apologies for utterly useless piece of info!)
Cheers,
Rob

might I suggest trying some rust removing chemicals? There are some which are based on organic acids and therefore don't attack most plastics. These ought not hurt an ABS sensor.
BTW I don't fancy the chances of cutting a strut to get an ABS sensor out; it'll take two cuts and neither can afford go the slightest bit too far.
I'd also query if any corroded strut tube is beyond salvation by welding....
cheers

Thanks Brucey, didn't think of that: I'll put the end of the strut in Hydrate 80 stuff for a few days.

Couldn't agree more: setting self up to fail written all over it!

This is one that's been under de sea (i.e. it's from the M). It resembles a cannon from the Mary Rose, albeit one with an ABS sensor attached!

I promise that I didn't put it in the sea although I did get it from someone on the Devon coast!wattsmonkey wrote: This is one that's been under de sea (i.e. it's from the M). It resembles a cannon from the Mary Rose, albeit one with an ABS sensor attached!

easy tiger! The very tip of an ABS sensor may be susceptible to attack by such acids; I'd suggest confining the treatment to the other end where it is plastic, and maybe painting the tip of the sensor with polyurethane varnish to give it a fighting chance.wattsmonkey wrote:Brucey wrote:might I suggest trying some rust removing chemicals?

Well, that was a mission!
One front ABS sensor removed and ready for posting. The O rings are no more. Checked with multimeter: resistance changes when screwdriver passed over tip.
Cheers,
Rob

Re: ABS SENSOR / BOSCH PART NUMBER?
Good news these are available again OEM, I just sourced two from my dealer. Only glitch is the wire is shorter now so you have to reroute the wire on the firewall side.
