ECU has no label... Need Help
I picked up a parts car today. It's an '83 euro just like the race car. The ECU was sitting in the seat and the label is missing. Is there a way to tell what ECU it is? Pretty sure this car is supposed to have a 011, but again, the label is gone.

Here are a couple of pics of an 011 if that helps?bpoliakoff wrote:O11 should be the correct ecu and very scarce.

Finally had time to do this. Opened up the mystery ECU, checked the layout and any numbers i could see printed on the boards to compare to my 011. They were identical, so I hooked it up to the race car and... VROOOM! Fired right up and ran great! I did a little celebration dance then drank a beer.
Makes up for the ECU I purchased that didn't work at all.

So are you saying that an 061 will work on an earlier car with the matching AFM it was originally paired with? If so, and the chip is reprogrammable, then I am as excited as 603racing!Griffter wrote:Out of interest why are you running 011 on a race car? I thought 011 was not reprogrammable but 061 is interchangeable (with the right air flow meter) and has a socketed reprogrammable chip?
My notes seem to indicate that an "027" AFM was used with the 061 ECU which makes sense, the 059 (US Spec.) which I know uses the 027, and the 061(Euro Spec.) were both used in the same years and the 061 is supposed to the similar to the 059, just no O2 sensor. But both also use the high impedance injectors, where as the 011 used the low impedance injectors, so I'm guessing the injectors would need to be changed out also.
Here are my notes which have simply been gleaned form posts on the forums. They are incomplete and not all verified, so if someone has some more info to fill in or spots some errors, please let me know:

Just to add more of a twist to this info... I just picked up an '83 Euro parts car with the 011 ECU (as expected) and 201 injectors (not so expected).
I'm guessing the 061 ECU would only work well with the Euro motors since they are 10:1 compression? If I get some extra cash together I may try to pick up a 061 and matching AFM. I'm also going to try to speak with Rich to see what kind of gains can be made with this setup.

Re: ECU has no label... Need Help
Great info here! I just tested and an 008 won't work in place of an 002 like I suspected. Now to track down an 002 to see if it is the root of problems on an '81 Motronic...

Tom
002 is what you need. That is what first year Motronic as used on the Euros needs

Re: ECU has no label... Need Help
I confirmed the AFM is correct in my application and tried a different ecu with no change. The engine dies without an ecu so then I tried a spare ECU. The engine fired right up and revved freely for the first time! However, it had a difficult time transitioning out of idle and after about 2 minutes, a similar issue occurred and the engine wouldn't rev.
Trying to see where I can get one or both of my ECU's repaired. I opened them up and they both had a black part on the board--I am thinking it is a design flaw of overheating or something similar. Wiring and other components all checked out and it ran good when I fixed the issue.
My worst case scenario is to use my M30B32 engine harness and 008 ecu with low imp injectors, but the problem is that it won't have O2 feedback so I'd rather not do that as I am guessing the mixtures/fuel maps are different.
