This group buy is now CLOSED. I've placed the order with the machine shop, and will let everyone know when I have the parts in-hand.

Awesome! Can't wait to hear about the progress. You had a really high percentage of people on the list pay up, that pretty impressive. I did notice that the first guy didn't look like he paid in time. Does that mean he doesn't get a set?

I paid today at noon - almost $1200 on my VISA, so I'm taking my set first. I think we all want good A/C in our cars. I bought my 635 last August, and almost didn't, because a black car in south Florida with no air is pretty tough to live with. It's not my primary car, but hopefully now I'll be more apt to drive it year-round for pleasure.

AC brackets

Post by JCS »

Dean,

Thank you for doing that.

I organized a group buy a couple of years ago, for the BMW front license plate delete logo, 50 pcs.

You did a great job!!!

Best,

Thanks, and the real work is yet to come - getting them all shipped out. Shouldn't be too bad since I'm shipping flat-rate and the USPS site allows batch processing.

Hi Guys:

In case you're wondering what's going on with the compressor brackets, I just checked the shop's website, and this is the result:

Note the date is in the Euro format, but since I was quoted "about a week", I'll contact the shop tomorrow and see what the ETA is.

UPDATE: The finished parts will be shipped to me tomorrow (Friday 5/22), so I should have them early next week. Then it's on to the daunting task of getting them all shipped out to everyone.

No worries - fun project, so far. I wish the parts had gotten here by now, as I have done nothing else productive this weekend, and could have had them all packed and ready to go.

I'm hoping my car doesn't need the expansion valve replaced, and that the evaporator is leak-free. I've built up a nice stash of R12 and since I'm in the hell of S. Florida, that's what I'd prefer to use. Ive heard some A/C shops can pressure test the system with nitrogen, and I want to check into that. I'm not sure just pulling a vacuum and checking it after 30 minutes is the best test, and that's what my shop said they do. Or, I might just invest in a vacuum pump, as I've already got a good set of gauges.

R12 is plentiful on eBay, but my average cost is ~$24/14oz, and I want to have some left for my '92 Alfa when I'm done with the BMW.

Yea, that front expansion valve is in the evaporator box! AND it's an odd valve in that the in/out port sizes are swapped compared to the $25 generic valve, at a $100 premium! At least that was the case when I did my '87 back in the 90's.

Another update - UPS is slated to deliver the parts (36 lbs!) to me tomorrow, 5/28, and I'll start getting them packed up that night. Hopefully I can get most, if not all, shipped by Friday afternoon.

The first batch of parts has been dropped off at the USPS. There was just no winning with their site yesterday afternoon/evening, as it was super-slow and bumped me out of my account a several times. I shipped out 10 orders, all to those guys who had addresses associated with their PayPal accounts, and tracking info has been sent through the PayPal site. The rest I'll have to work on this weekend, and I'll send tracking info via PM's. It looks like I may be missing an address or two, and if so, you'll hear about that, too.

Well, some guys did buy 2 or 3 sets, so maybe someone will relinquish an extra set.

Otherwise, if you and 3 more guys want more, they'd be ~$45/set shipped, and I'd be happy to have more cut. To just order 1 set is almost $200. I've also got an extra factory compressor mount that I won't need.

ntnha, the group buy is long over with. Unless they repeat the offer, there are none available from the original seller.

Mounting brackets for Sanden A/C Compressor

Post by ntnha2001 »

I am in need of a pair of mounting brackets for a Sanden A/C compressor. Anybody has a pair to spare me one?
Thank you so much.

If we can get another group together for 5 sets, I'd be able to order another batch. At that quantity, a set is $50 shipped to any US address. I've already got one other person interested, so we'd need 3 more buyers. Send me a PM and I'll keep everyone who's interested posted. Delivery time is usually about 2 weeks from when I order them.

Check with "beigemobile" on mye28.com

Apparently he works at a facility that can cut these whenever he needs some. IIRC, they are ~$40/set shipped.
