highline cutting out

Post by fazerman »

So after nearly nine years off the road i took my 89 highline for a gentle 30 mile drive, it aseptic till took it to a local forecourt to give it a wash, i waited in the queue for my turn and when i went to start it it started then died after a few seconds, this happened a few times then all dash lights came on but nothing when i turned the key !! its electrical but thats my only clue, i put jump leads on it and it started right away then died, after waiting a while it started and it stayed running so managed toget it home :D

Can anyone shed some light on this problem ?? ](*,)

Check the voltage at idle. Sounds like the alternator may not be working. With a jump or a rest, the battery recovers enough to start the car.
