Turn signal cancel repair?

Post by songzunhuang »

OK, this may be a long shot, but what the heck.

During one of my steering wheel removal sessions, I broke off the little tab that cancels the turn signals when the steering wheel returns to center after a turn. Is there anyway to rebuild and or improve the sturdiness of that little tab? I'm hoping I don't have to purchase another turn signal assembly just for that little plastic tab.

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

I did that on my E30, and never can up with a durable repair. The nub is so small there's almost nothing to glue to. I tried drilling and epoxying a small piece of wire to what was left of the nubbin, but that thermoplastic resists all efforts to attach anything to it. ](*,)

After you price that unit, with the OBC control integrated, you may want to look for an electrically damaged used one in order to solve your issue.

Good luck to ya!

Song,

I have one from a seven series that might work.

It was installed in my six and everything worked.

The only problem is the push to change the OBC.

The spring lost tension and the OBC can change

display some times.

Let me know if your interested.

You know what, I grabbed the picture of a turn signal stalk with the OBC function, but my stalk doesn't have that! So perhaps I'll be able to get a cheaper version if I can't figure out a fix.

Bob, is it possible to take apart the unit and harvest the piece that broke off so I can transplant it onto my unit? Since you have the part removed from the car, I was hoping you could take a look and provide your analysis. Thanks.

Song,

I looked the switch over and can find no way to

harvest the pin you need. The casing is riveted

together with a glued in printed circuit.

Also tiny springs on the pin platform if taken apart

I see no way putting back together.

That^^

Trying to reassemble a turn signal is like trying to sack a cat. There'll always be something escaping from the assembly.

Ok, thanks for taking a look. I'm just going to have to eventually accept this fact and pay the big $$ for a new one. Just like my... Fuel level indicator, SI board, radiator, compressor, oh I could go on and on... Love this car. Lol!

Compatible switch?

Post by songzunhuang »

There a switch on eBay with a part number 61311377071.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/222491532588?it ... =&vxp=mtr
Real OEM says my part number is 61311373025.

Does anyone know if these are compatible?
If I look at the plugs and the wiring on the back of the switch, it looks to be the same! Here's the picture of the back of my signal.

FYI - I bought a new old-stock signal from "coupeking" on eBay. Installed it this morning and it's perfect! It was $85+$10 shipping and then California tax.

It was the identical switch! So if you need a turn signal, that seller is a good source. It says that he has a few more.

Excellent.

I met Peter around 1993 when I was in a cafe on a weekend morning and noticed an... inka CSL outside...
