M88 Exhaust question

Post by marek »

I was wondering if anyone knows what the difference is between the rear mufflers for an M88 motor without cats

The two part numbers are :

18121309004 (up to 6/87) and 18121311921 (from 6/87)

The front muffler remains the same for both. The reason I am asking is that there is an 70+ Euro price difference between the two.

Is it physically different, or is it just some inconsequential internal differences and either one can be used.

please check this carefully but I suspect there is a difference in the way the tailpipes exit the rear of the silencer, to reflect the fact that the rear valance bodywork is different on euro cars , with the change occurring in 6/87

cheers

I have a Euro E28 M5, and the previous part # (18121309004) is common for both the E24 M635CSI and the E28 M5, additionally the 18121309004 part was superseeded but only for the E24.

Does anyone know if the difference is the tailpipes being longer with the change to the "world bumpers"?
