overheating

Post by vietrice4ever »

Hi,

1986 635csi.
I just replaced: Radiator, fan clutch, water pump and thermostat twice.

Before changing all this. locally driving temp went high almost to red. The shop first found out Fan clutch bad and I decided to change the thermostat as the same time. Still high temp so the shop replaced the Radiator found a leak then water pump but still high so he replace another thermostat.
He double check the fan clutch good. freeway driving was fine only local is the problem.

thank you all

Do you have heat in the cabin? If not, you still have air in the system.

Yes. Air frequently gets trapped in the heater core when the system has been opened/worked on, and that prevents the proper circulation of coolant. No heat from the heater is a sure sign there's air trapped in it.
