3228 falls within the date range on your car.

If it were me, I might consider replacing the whole starter. If you are not concerned about originality. here in U.S. eBay has Chinese-made starters for about $65 shipped. The one I put in my 2002 18 months ago is still doing fine :)

Yeah, a gamble!

Hi ,

Thanks for the advise . How I wish its easy for me to send my starter assembly to the U.S.A . It will be very expensive to shipped it from S.E. Asia to the U.S.A . What I did was to search at PelicanParts BMW and they provided me the Bosch part no. of the Solenoid for my car ( 2 339 303 240 ) . I inquired w/ the local Bosch Distributor here in the Philippines and its available . My mechanic will install it any day now before Nov 18 .

Best regards ,
