Post by spannerman1471 »

Hi all drove my 635 yesterday parked on drive now today it will not start. Spins over fast smell of petrol at the exhaust tail pipe but no sign of it firing. Any ideas where to check first please?

Fastest way to check for a spark is to pull the cable that goes to the distributor cap and hold that near ground. Get a spark? What color? If it is yellowish it may not be enough.

Looks or actually smells like you do get fuel,

Check the flywheel sensors at the plugs at the rear of the engine.

Thanks for all your help guys. Whilst looking for sensors at rear of engine found one at rear of cylinder near number six injector. Also found two at front of bellhousing. One of the two sensors that connect through a bracket towards the rear of the engine was not pushed fully home . Pushed it in as it should be and hey presto started with just a flick of the key. Maxe my day . Thanks again for your replys.
