New muffler is too loud.

Hey guys so i had a new ANSA muffler installed on my 81 628csi after some pipe modifications. The oem euro muffler is special order and costs over $375. Its amazing how much junk was in the original 36 year old muffler. The car definitely revs alot more freely , it can now breathe. Unfortunately it is now very loud, almost unbearable. The drone is also very high. Why is it so much louder now. My shop technician seems to think that the old muffler was clogged up and silencing it. What can i do??

Maybe adding a resonator would help?
