My '85 US-spec 635 has been missing its factory toolkit - more specifically, the plug wrench - since I got it, and I haven't been able to change the plugs because of that. I've been trying to find one for a decent price, but I haven't had great luck so far. ($43-$71 on Amazon for a WRENCH?!)
Is there anywhere I can get one for a reasonable price?
Or is there an alternative I can use that doesn't cost so much?

Re: M30B34 Spark Plug Wrench
why don't you use a deep 13/16” or 21mm socket or 13/16” or 21mm spark plug socket?
They usually work better anyway.
may want to read this...a how to.. http://www.brianbernard.com/BMW%20DIY's ... Change.pdf
Or take it somewhere..you maybe better off.

Re: M30B34 Spark Plug Wrench
Hmm, I was gonna say the same thing, I just use my Craftsman 1/2" drive ratchet with the required universal and extensions, and whatever spark plug socket fits, don't recall if it's 13/16" or not, but that sounds about right
FWIW, most of us wouldn't use the tools that came in the tool kit anyway, preserved for shows and whatnot
That plus true spark plug sockets have an insert in them that's rubber and kinda "grips" the plug for easier removal
And if you want to save some coin, there's always Harbor Freight, although there's a thread somewhere on the board about their quality being a bit lacking

Re: M30B34 Spark Plug Wrench
I was under the impression that you needed a very thin-walled socket, hence the need for the factory wrench.
If a normal 13/16 works fine, then I'll just give that a shot instead.

Re: M30B34 Spark Plug Wrench
Are you talking about a plain plug wrench for the kit, or the large expanding one used on an "M" motor.? I have complete. mint tool kits for $275 plus shipping and I have many plain plug wrenches I would sell for $28 shipped in the US. I also have new blue tool kit cloths at $40 mailed in the US as well as box new, BMW, seat mount fire extinguishers $260 shipped in the lower 48

Hey Bert,
Good point and the S38/M88 does require a special thin walled socket of sorts, but as the subject indicates this is for the M30B34, a standard plug socket and appropriate ratchet would work just fine
Curious about the "plain plug wrenches" you have for sale for $28
How 'bout a photo there my friend
