M90 Timing chain

Post by jeme9 »

Hello, on my M30B30 (1977) there is a dual chain, however the M90 3.5 (1979) I am about to fit has only a single chain.

Does anyone know why they have gone from a double chain on 3.0 ltr to a single chain on higher HP M90 ?

^ I looked it up for you. because i was also curious.
It seems that single row is fine for ye olde m30.

But on the old mercedes sl v8s (3.8 liter) switching to the double row chain is an important upgrade.
Karmann, German for extra rusty.
