Hi All,
Whilst cleaning the inside of the engine bay, I found this lying on the chassis rail, under the ABS / Header tank area of the LHS of my engine bay.Looked like it had been there a while as it was covered in grime. Can anyone identify what it is and where it goes please?
The shaft is 8mm diameter and has a groove for a circlip.
Thanks,
Ian

It's the connector for the hood shock, part #21 in the drawing.

It's the bracket for the bottom of the bonnet strut. On the M the nearside (L/H) strut bracket fits on top of the wing (normally spot-welded) and the offside (R/H) bracket is spot-welded to the inner wing.
#21 below is L/H. #18 is the R/H.
