Seeing mine has about 145000 miles on the clock, and 30 years under it's belts, it no doubt has some soot build up in the engine.
Is it safe to use these high temperature/combustion systems on these older cars?

Safe? Yes. Needed? Not likely. Unless it's been running very rich for a long time, the carbon buildup won't justify the process. These aren't direct injection engines like the current BMW lineup, that require periodic aggressive cleaning.

Yeah, I wouldn't do it after pulling apart 3 good running (but high mileage) engine.

If you think it's needed, I would recommend using Seafoam, very cost effective and it works.

I connect to the vacuum nipple on the m30 manifold.
