No Fuel
The sun was out so I took the 635 out for a blast, The tank showed a quarter full but it started to cough and splutter and then stopped. I put a few litres in and it still coughed and spluttered but eventually cleared after a lot of revving and ran normally. Is this low fuel or the old complaint of "S**t in the carburetor"?

Assuming you haven't fitted carbs, the in tank pump going South usually means spluttering unless more than 1/4 tank of fuel.

It has just died again and I have had trip to the local Indie on a transporter. This time it had a full tank. I suspect a fuel pump but will clarify when they have had a good look at it.

The only breakdown I've experienced in anything M30 engined was the sudden failure of the fuel pump on my M535i. Hope all sorted soon.

I would try a number smaller and check the fuel pump relay first. After your car died, check for voltage on the inline fuel pump since it is easier to get to than the intank (provided you have both). The inline is on the passenger side in the rear and the intank, you get access by removing the lid under the carpet.

My Techie says it is the L Shaped idle control valve. he has tried cleaning it but it is seized solid. Thanks to Ron I have sourced a replacement which should do the trick!

Still not cured. It runs and drives normally for about 5 minutes then coughs splutters and dies. Indie has suggested it may be the air mass sensor. Any suggestions?
