Looking for some insight on headstuds. I'm currently in the process of rebuilding my M30 and am at the stage where the head is going to be mated back to the block. I'm sure this is a topic that has been covered before, however some fresh opinions would be helpful. I was researching this ARP kit (Seems to be the only one they make for the m30).

My initial plan was to buy these, however I stumbled upon this thread on mye28: http://www.mye28.com/viewtopic.php?t=60707
This led me to believe that this stud kit wouldn't be the right choice as they aren't shouldered to center the rocker shafts into their correct position.
I'm okay with using stock bolts, but i'd like to upgrade if possible. Interested in hearing what others have experienced using this ARP kit, or if its just not worth the money, since i'm not going turbo and will be running the engine mainly in stock form. Thanks!

Re: M30B35 Head Stud Kit
I bought my head bolts a few years back, even though I only rebuilt my engine last year. When it came time I investigated ARP studs also, but stayed with the bolts due to coming across the same issue.
It's an issue (or non issue) that seems to generate a lot of debate. Here's more http://www.mye28.com/viewtopic.php?f=6& ... 2&start=25
As an aside, IE advertise a main bearing stud kit http://www.iemotorsport.com/bmw/item/M30mainstud.html but ARP don't list this on their website.

Thanks for the response! I'll probably just buy bolts so I don't have to worry about any possible issues since I wont be running the engine too hard.
