Bell housing bolts

Post by EdwasRed »

Looking for advice.

Does anyone know which bell housing to m88 block bolts should be used when replacing a Getrag 280 with a 265/6? Can I reuse my existing bolts from my 280 (they are star heads) or do I go with those from a 265/6?
Thanks.

I think that you can use either provided

a) they are the correct length and threading and
b) there is enough access around the bolt head to get the right tools in.

The bolt lengths vary because the thickness of the bellhousing flange may vary in thickness and the threads in the engine block may vary in depth too.

cheers
