M30B34 Exhaust Valve Rocker Arm to Cam Clearance

Post by clipper47 »

I have a great admiration for Brucey's unparalleled knowledge of the E24. I will be adjusting the valves on my 1985 635CSI soon and note that Brucey recommends adjusting the exhaust valve rocker to cam at .010" rather than the generally accepted .009". I am curious to know if others are following his advice and if there is any noticeable difference in the engine performance or noise. Saving the hotter exhaust valve by enlarging the rocker gap does make sense.

OK! In case anyone is interested I adjusted the exhaust valves to 0.010" and the intakes at .009" and the engine purrs and idles smoothly. Two or three valves were a bit loose and ticking a bit so this fixed that minor issue.
