Hazard lights keep flashing

Post by Rppn »

Hi i'm new here, i shall introduce myself

From Belgium - Car: e24 635csi manual from 1978.

I have this problem and can't find it! Sorry in advance for my english ;)
When i connect the battery the hazard lights turn on. (all 4) even when the engine is/isn't running they still flashing. I can't turn them of. The relais is OK. When i unplug the hazard switch they stop flashing. Also can't use the turnsignals.

Could it be that the hazard switch is broke?

Hopefully someone can help me out or give me some tips?!

Thanks!

If the hazard switch does not remain in the off or "inner" position, it's very possible that the switch itself is causing this problem :-k

Try holding the switch in, to see if the flashers go out. If they do, then you will know it's the switch [-o<

There's a procedure for how to repair these, can't find it ](*,)

I'll keep checking, bot others may have this info, as these switches are known not to last forever :-({|=

Welcome to the board =D>

Here's a linky from the First Fives website, very handy for us E12 chassis guys =D>

Different switch, but the principles would be the same [-o<

Just in case you can't find a new one :-k

Switch is available new in Euro version for approximately $50. On an early Euro, al the lighting runs through it i believe. At least the turn signals do for sure.

Fixed the problem! It was the hazard switch. Not the eletrical part but the inner mechanical part. The needle inside was bent. So i bent it the other way so the switch stayed inside when pushed on the button! Thank you guys for al the help and ideas! Up to the next issue xD

Grtz!
