Which clutch kit??

Post by Pfitz911 »

Hi all
Just bought a getrag (Ibelieve it is a 260/6 with the fins on the bottom?) from an e34 535. I plan to convert my auto to manual

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/303010419458?ul_noapp=true

Which sachs clutch kit do I get??
Is this right

https://www.ebay.com/itm/For-1989-1993- ... -6-Cyl-E34

There seems to be a few that say they will fit e28/24 etc but have different codes (KF65203, 76366TQ)
There is also a big price difference, as the 62876KQ is only 200 and others are 3-400??
Do they all fit ok...need your expert opinions
What else do I order for the conversion?
Any help is greatly appreciated
Cheers
Dan

This is for a 5 series but it works for 6's also.

You'll need

fly wheel, good clutch & pressure plate, throw-out bearing, pedal bracket with pedals complete, cross member, shifter with linkage, clutch hydraulics, drive shaft with center support bearing and guibo.
shifter bracket (to weld in the top of the transmission tunnel)
center console shifter surround.

You won't have to change the TPS to a manual one. Just disconnect
the TCU (auto trans ecu) upper left behind bolster on driver side.
Don't forget to jump Neutral Safety Switch.

I would get a clutch kit from well known performance outfits.

Just a few here.

Do a search on 5 speed swaps and read through others experience
to get the total picture of what needs to be done and what's to avoid.

Which flywheel are you going to use? E34s came with a dual mass flywheel and need a specific clutch. Also that transmission pictured does not have provisions for the bellhousing reference sensors a lot of the cars need, unless you have an 88 or 89 motronic, or L-Jet car.

Thanks for your reply
Yes, I realise after the fact it isn’t suitable for my motronic. I am planning to use a haltech 750 to control fuel and spark ⚡️
I’m still not sure whether I need to run this in parallel with motronic, or I can ditch it altogether. Does motronic just control fuel, spark and auto trans?? I know cruise has it’s own seperate control unit, so I don’t think it will be affected. Not sure about obc functions
So, back to original post, I think a clutch kit for standard e24 will be fine, even though this is from an e34, the getrag are same I believe...
