"Banana" inlet manifold.

Post by ron »

Had a query from a friend. Will the "banana" inlet manifolds from an early Jetronic engine fit a later head and is there any benefit from doing this powerwise?
They are ALWAYS rustier than you thought!!!!!!

Hey Ron, interesting question, hopefully your friend is aware that he's gonna need a LOT more parts than just the "banana" manifolds :-k

And while I don't have any direct experience with an exchange such as this one, I don't see why the L-jet setup wouldn't bolt up to a B34 or B35 head [-(

Recall that the M90 also had L-jet injection

I do have an interesting article on the use of early 320i intake "bananas" on a standard L-jet setup, which is "supposed" to produce more power, somehow

I seem to recall something about volumetric efficiency, or some sort of similar rubbish :-"

It's attached =D>

Glad to see you are getting back in action

I think the e21 intake runners on M30 intake give more torque and less hp. The M30 already makes good torque, so I do not believe it is a great upgrade unless you are doing other engine work.

Rich at Fritz's Bits had one fitted to a race car - I'm sure he said it was an easy HP gain.
