M635 Throttle Cable

Post by Bobo W »

Good Morning

Anyone know where I can get a throttle cable for a RHD M635?

Classic Heroes are telling me that BMW no longer stock and that they'll have to get one specially made up. It surely can't be that difficult as the RAC man fashioned a replacement by the side of the road but whenever I see the words "one-off" and "specially made" I envisage a specialist somewhere rubbing his hands with glee.

Thanks
Steve

Ah thanks, so it's not a new problem then.

I'll let you know how Barney gets on having one made up - we might do a bulk buy?

It can't be too difficult to manufacture as the RAC man fashioned a replacement by the side of the road which seems pretty robust

Had to get a replacement made here in NZ. Ridiculous that a part like this is NLA.

OK so Classic Heroes are being somewhat uncommunicative at the moment so going to do myself.

Now my current throttle cable was fashioned at the side of the road by an enthusiastic RAC man who in my humble opinion has done quite a good job but I still want a proper replacement. I would rather not adapt an E30 M3 cable so I'm going to get one made up.

This is the bit where I need some help from the technical guru's on here. Without an original cable for a RHD car to use as a template I'm struggling to find technical drawings that the throttle cable manufacturer can work from to make me something up. A part number would be a useful start point or a a drawing with actual dimensions on.

I've contacted BMW Heritage to see if they have a suitable drawing and I'm ringing round the other classic BMW specialists to see if they can help but wondering whether anyone on here can help?

Thanks
Steve

Good Morning

If anyone were able to lend me a cable that would be brilliant.

In the meantime, the cable manufacturers I've spoken to have asked for pictures in the first instance. So if you could send me those then we can get the ball rolling - my email address is [email protected]

Incidentally can anyone tell me the difference between the cables for a M635 and 635? - Munich Legends seem to think the latter can be adapted
