Manual Conversion - Shifter Mount Question

Post by Rangi246 »

Hi everyone

I've searched a bit to try and find an answer on this one but to no avail so far.

We have an 86 635csi and we're doing a manual conversion on it. The box we've acquired is a G265/6 with the sheet metal shifter and thanks to some great info on here, I'll be rebuilding it and making a few upgrades on it before installing it in the car.

Looking under the car through, there is a bracket mounted at the back of the hole where the gear stick goes into the car. From real OEM it looks like its the mount for the back of the aluminium style shifter.

My question is probably a stupid one, but does the back of the sheet metal shifter mount to the car anywhere or does it float free?

Cheers
Mark

Thanks, yes I saw this one as well.

Does anyone know if part number 11 or 12 bolts onto the car anywhere?

on my e28 (88/535is) manual swap I had to weld the bracket to the tunnel.. removed paint and under coat first.
