Why is my AC hot in front and cold in the rear?

Post by mark22 »

Just as it says, my 87 M6 blows ambient air out of the front vents (above and above the stereo) yet the rear console is ice cold? What might cause this?

Thank you!

There's a part which BMW calls a voltage regular valve for A/C mounted in engine bay, IIRC part 64511380659, This valve becomes inoperative, it can be taken apart, cleaned or replace it. There are write ups which claim when this valve is functional the front A/C blows cold and is often over looked. My front doesn't blow cold and this will be my starting point. There are many write ups on the A/C systems, do a search on the forums.
