G265 Shifter Arm Orientation

Hi All

Further to my facepalm moment with the steel console for the G265 gearbox, i'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction as to the orientation of the shift knuckle and shifter arm. Realoem would have me putting it on the left hand side.....

Neither of these bits were on the box when I got it so its a bit of a guess from my end. I've put a new knuckle on but am not sure its on correctly or if it needs to be turned around. Looks like it has a slightly longer end on one side.

I've taken a few pics of the knuckle in place and then the shifter arm, is photo 2 or 3 correct for the shifter arm? Or does it not matter?

Its going into a RHD car if that matters.

Cheers
Mark

I've always assumed the rod goes on the left and the protruding part of the knuckle bushing is set to the right, i.e. the correct orientation is an exact mirror image of the last photo. But maybe I've been doing it wrong for years, and/or it doesn't really matter?

cheers

Rangi, these aren't the slickest gearboxes to use so take the opportunity while you can to remove as much play as possible.

Yes, I'm in the process of rebuilding the shifter at the moment - new bushes, shift knuckle, console mounts etc mounts and i'm also putting in a Z3 short shifter. Found a wealth of info on here about how to do it.

I've also replaced the various gearbox seals and will be throwing in a new clutch, slave and master cylinders, hoses etc.

Thoroughly looking forward to a manual!

Cheers
