Water Hoses set for M30b35 - 1989 High Line UK

Post by Jambers »

Hi, just after a bit of advice.

I've been searching the usual places (Walloth & Nesch etc) for a full set of water hoses. I am thinking of pre-emptive maintenance and wanted to buy the full set, plus Thermostat, water pump etc. I believe I can get the Water Pump and Thermo from BMW (I want to keep it original), but the hoses are proving a little tricky as the kits available are wide and varied. My local dealer has suggested that I get a list of the part numbers from REALOEM, and then they can try and get them ordered in if still available.

Walloth & Nesch only sell hose kits for '82-'87, and I don't know if this would be different as mine has the last variant of the engine which they don't list for.

I have also seen some kits for the e34M30 engine, which I believe is very similar - but again different suppliers have slightly different hoses.

Does anyone happen to know the best place to get these from, ideally in the UK?

Thanks in advance.

some of the hoses are quite different in cars that are built 7/87 onwards; in particular the heater hoses.

cheers

Thanks Brucey, do you happen to know if the e34 ones will fit? My understanding is that the engine is essentially the same with some mods.

the engine is basically the same but the radiator is different and so is the heater valve etc. You might be lucky but I doubt that very many of the hoses are similar.

I've had my 1988 highline UK car for 20 years so have replaced the hoses twice already. 8-[
The part numbers you need are these:

11531719983 - runs under intake manifold
64211374637 - heater valve hose
11531289859 - lower radiator hose
11531719887 - upper radiator hose
11531266459 - bypass hose
17121712736 - reservoir to radiator hose (sold by length)
17121119294 - reservoir overflow hose (to discharge coolant to road)

If you're not quite sure about what a part looks like, pop the part number into google and do an image search and you'll see it.
Get the parts from BMW, do not (under any circumstances) attempt to buy them from anywhere else. I also replace the thermostat and water pump at the same time as the hoses.
It might be worth looking at your heater valve at the same time as the rubber inside them disintegrates, although sourcing a good one of those is another story.
May all sound overkill, but I use my car as it was intended to be used, ie driving very long distances (I've taken it to the Artic Circle and Africa) and if it broke down the wife would not be happy 8-[ .

Sorry to revive this thread, but Im having a hard time trying to find the 11531719887 part. I understand that it was made exclusively for the post 07/87 635csi and is now NLA. I'm curious on what people are using to replace it now that most has started to deteriorate.

Probably of little help to you in Brazil, but here in the UK I know a company that can replicate pretty much any hose as long as they have an original to base it on.
