Questioning My Sanity - E12 Oil Change

Post by Slownrusty »

Guys - I think I just rivalled Joaquin's level of "loosing it" from the Joker!

Crikey!!!

Is it really that difficult to get the oil filter canister back on with that spring, filter flange and then line up the bolt? I fought it and fought it for 2+ hours! I ended having to take off the power steering pump (left it dangling by the hoses) and also remove the alternator wires.....what am I missing here?

I consider myself to be a good wrench (now I am questioning that!) and currently own over 10 cars including a '86 E24 and oil filter installations are a B-R-E-E-Z-E! What's the trick here?

$150 shipped in USA. That is for the plate, the threaded adapter and "O" ring. Filter not included. It uses a Fram PH8a or any other filter for a Ford 460" big block affording super filtering compared to what BMW provides. I haven't done any in a while and have to get ahold of the machinist that does them for me and see what his game plan is, usually 10 days. I can do them for bottom mounted 4" canisters or 3.5" canisters either top or bottom bolted can not do top mounted canisters. If 5 guys stepped up I would do a group buy at $135 shipped in the USA

Very good - I like it, question, how is the threaded nipple on the OEM canister removed?

Perfect! Thanks.

I'll circle back in a bit, a group buy would be cool.
