Pressure plate bolts

Post by DaYouper »

doing a auto to 5sp changeover, new bolts for flywheel and p/plate. real oem shows bolt only for p/plate, no washers, is that correct? and I see two suggested torque setting for the harder replacement bolt, 22-26 or I read a post stating 36???

Can't remember what I did on mine, but common sense says lock washers. I also think realoem isn't accurate. IIRC the plate they show as a shim in regard to the flywheel, is actually a plate with tabs on it that are bent against the bolt heads that hold the flywheel to the crank so they can't get loose.

That plate with the locking tabs is why you don't need/use lock washers.

For sure on the lock tabs But common sense says to use them on the pressure plate. Nothing like having a pp spin loose while driving down the road

I am asking about pressure plate bolts, to be used with or w/ out washers, not asking about Flywheel bolts, all set there
Thank you

Sorry, I posted in haste
I agree that you should use washers and thread locking compound
