Looking for accessory power.

Post by Bhart »

I have a 1987 USA spec M6 and I'm looking for a switched power source for a low amperage accessory I'm adding. Can anyone suggest an easy to access location, ideally in the drivers (LHD) footwell area?

I also am looking to add an accessory port to keep my cell phone charged. The cig. lighter only seems to work if you hold in the end. I am thinking of taping into the rechargeable flashlight connector in the glove box.

Just tap in to the hot lead to cigarette lighter on the back side of the panel

While under the dash use your multi meter to see what wires are switched and tap off of that circuit.
I would test as many as you can and chose the switched circuit that suits you.

Or you can look @ the ETM and find a switched circuit from the diagrams.

I ended up pulling out the radio and jumpering off the power connection for that. A touch of solder, a tiny tie wrap and a little cloth tape and it's all secured and working.
