Looking for Idle Control Valve L-shape two prong connect VDO part 1 286 688

Post by mcmimber »

Hello

Looking to replace the idle control valve on my 83 633csi VDO part # 1 286 688. Any guidance for a well regarded/working used part or reasonably priced new unit is much appreciated.

Two prong, two ports as pictured below.

Many thanks in advance

I checked around to see if there were any cross reference charts. No luck. Looks like $200+ on ebay. Thats crazy. Maybe someone has one laying around.

Hello Emac:

Thannks for the search. As of yet, I have not been able to source this part. Will have to bite the bullet and search via Ebay.

MC, any luck finding the idle control valve or solving the idle issue? I have been having the same difficulties but with a hunting idle. 700-1200 rpm, just revs up to 1200, settles back to 700, then up again. Unfortunately my car is in storage most of the year and I am unable to work on it. I am wondering if mine might be the resistor fix on the temp sensor wire. I took mine off my car not knowing what it was, but the problem was there before I removed it. Would like to know how you made out & where in NY are you located? Thanks,

Joe
