HELP what is this broken connector? 1986 e24 635csi

HELP what is this broken connector? 1986 e24 635csi

I found this and don't know what is it for and can the connector be replaced ?
I am afraid to start the engine in this condition.

That goes to the secondary crank position sensor, used only by the BMW shop disgnostic computer. If you trace out the wiring you'll find it goes to the diagnostic port and nowhere else. You can safely leave it disconnected or remove the sensor altogether.

And isn't that a coolant temperature sensor shown in the first pic? My inclination would be to at least ensure total electrical separation of the connectors before starting up eg with tape, but I wouldn't regard is as and big deal.
