I found this and don't know what is it for and can the connector be replaced ?

That goes to the secondary crank position sensor, used only by the BMW shop disgnostic computer. If you trace out the wiring you'll find it goes to the diagnostic port and nowhere else. You can safely leave it disconnected or remove the sensor altogether.

And isn't that a coolant temperature sensor shown in the first pic?
