Competent Mechanic referral - Los Angeles

Post by bimmern00b »

Hello all!

Im located in the Los Angeles, California area and im looking to rebuild my 633CSI's M30. Currently im having mild over heating issues and leak issues. I was wondering if anyone can give me some referrals or good shops who have experience building these beauties?

Really looking to rebuild engine/trans, cooling system and getting all suspension rebuilt as well. Any referrals would be appreciated! Don't mind driving within 100 mile range!

Much Appreciated!

go on bimmer forums and look for sofiabghome. He is in LA and an absolute engine genius. If you can't do it let me know and I will find out how to contact him.He won't be cheap but he will do it 100% right

If you want high quality work done on your car these are a couple of LA-area BMW repair shops with very good reps:

https://www.bavarianworkshop.com/

https://www.avusautosport.com/

Neither shop will be cheap but if I had were having the kind of work done that you describe (complete engine, tranny, and suspension rebuild) and had a big budget set aside, one of these two shops is where I'd probably bring my car. I don't have any personal experience with either but I base that on what I've heard over the years.

Years ago an old-school German tech at Avus rebuilt the M90 in my friend's minty Euro 635 which included head porting and polishing, Schrick cam, etc. and he was very impressed with the quality of the work done there.

Good luck!
