Hi guys - sorry for being lazy with this one, can anyone confirm that to remove the shroud its just the two philips screws at the top, the bottom just slots into place? Had a quick look in the garage yesterday as have new cap and rotor on order so wanted to be sure what i'm getting into - couldn't see any lower fixings. I think then its those two screws for the shroud, then the viscous for the fan (standard coupling size), then the distributor cover (3 hex nuts), then i'm into the cap? This is 11/87 Euro highline btw.
Thanks
James

Yes, shroud has only the upper screws.
Don't forget the clutch is reverse threads.

Thanks for confirming and yep, not forgotten the viscous is backwards!
Re: Fan shroud removal / distributor replacement
Shroud, fan, cap and rotor removal all went smoothly - rotor and cap in better condition than i expected, possibly replaced in the past but still putting a shiny one on anyway.
Next q though - should the 'cover' that sits behind the rotor be loose / freely rotating? It looks almost like it should screw or clip into place but with the cap off on mine its not held in by anything - maybe the cap just clamps it down? Its part #13 on this diagram - https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showpa ... Id=12_0020
Thanks all

I think you're right about it simply being held in position as the cap is bolted up.
