Guten Parts + Service - Who/What/When/Why

Post by Guten Parts + Service »

Hello everyone,

Wanted to give a quick background on Guten Parts + Service, aka Guten, aka GPS, aka www.gutenparts.com

Some of you may already know of us through other chassis sitting in your garage or through other forums/facebook.

My name is Levent(Forum user name ZM Blue Devil) and I own and operate GPS. We are approaching our 5 year mark. Initially opened GPS as a side gig and to have a place for me and my friends to store their cars and parts. After spending 20 years in Corporate America(Disney and Goldman) decided to leave that world and now it is a full time job. We have a 4500 sqft shop in South Orange, New Jersey. In addition to offering regular maintenance we build track cars and do full restorations.

Our shop output is very limited, we dont take work from the "street" we have a list of customers various budgets that we cater to.

We also have an online store where we offer over 50,000 parts. The goal of GPS is to provide one stop shopping for the enthusiast and do it yourselfer. We offer OE, OEM parts as well as parts from AKG, Rogue Engineering, IE, BMWPedals.com, Bimmertools.com, EmblemTech, RaceSkids, Renewed Finishes, Ewheelworks.com, BimmerHeads.com, DriverGear Transmissions, MarkD Chips, etc. etc.

We also have used parts in stock, from window switches to glass from parted cars.

One of the things we pride ourselves on is bringing new products to market with the help of our partners. Often many suppliers both small and large dont want to dedicate resources to developing new products. We work with the community and our contacts to bring such products to market.

These are all trusted partners that we use on our own cars. We dont sell stuff just for the sake of selling. We often "yell" at customer for doing silly stuff to their cars. To us the car is more important then the customer, these are cars that we all need to save for the future generations.

We also have full access to BMW Germany for Euro parts. What we can't find new, we often source from Europe, genuine wheels, seats, steering wheels, lights, etc. etc. We bring palates about every 3-4 months.

While we arent the cheapest parts supplier our customers find us very very competitive. We arent perfect we are humans, while we dont mess up an order often, it happens, sometimes because of us sometimes because of the customer. We dont point fingers, we just work to get it right. We are also very accessible, often just pick up the phone to call our customers to ensure their order is correct.

We have an annual event in our town called GFest. Last year we had over 400 80s German cars attend.

Some pictures from previous years shown here.

There is more information about us on our site. http://www.gutenparts.com/about-us

Lastly we utilize Facebook quite heavily. I know, I know, there are many non users, but being small we find social media an effective tool to reach to our community. If you are on FB you can follow what we are doing in the shop, new parts coming in, our dog Stück(not like the racer, but whats on every BMW part 1 stück...), what we are eating/drinking(we love good food and good drinks), and even the characters that come to the shop.

If you are on a boring conference call and want to see some of our past projects and other pictures, check out the various albums here.

Looking forward to adding value to the E24 community.

We can be reached at [email protected], you can also try the shop phone but Ill be honest it never stops wringing with marketing calls so we rarely answer it(973.821.5330).
