Converting to Convetible!

Post by stavmak »

Has anyone taken the top off the 635? Can it be done? What are the options and who can do this in Europe?

Thanks.

I think you'd have to be very brave to remove the roof from a perfectly good car.....

Can it be done? Sure.

Keep in mind that the roof is part of the structure that keeps the car stiff. If you remove the roof, you then need to add chassis/frame stiffeners. Ever wonder why the convertible version of cars tend to weigh more (and perform less) than the hardtop versions of the same car?

After you deal with the stiffening issues (and the increased weight), then you need to deal with some type of roof, theft issues, wind noise, and a whole boat load (no pun) of other issues.
