So some explanation of the pictures:
So the car was stored since October. My last time driving it was in mid October when we drove up to Cripple Creek (a small gambling town) with a bunch of BMW guys. http://www.mye28.com/viewtopic.php?t=83931&highlight=
I had a blast, and it was sad to put the car away. But I was happy that I had a semi-covered spot to put the car.
Hidden in the Background at my brother's place:
Started it up in mid-December (60 degree day!). These pictures were posted above, but oh well.
I pulled the car out of storage in the beginning of May. It started right up with a freshly charged battery. This is before I had even cleaned it. I am a fan of these wheels on this car
The 16" BBS Mahle's that I have been working on. I test fitted them yesterday:
Here's a before picture of these same wheels: http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/2240/1006937u.jpg
Today checked and I do in fact have bilstein's on this bad body, with what looks to be stock springs. I didn't see any markings to tell for sure, but either way I am happy with the setup.
I also put a front strut bar in place to strengthen the aged chassis. It handles great, and seems to have endless grip. Now I just need to replace a front bushing to tighten up the steering.
It's quite fun to be driving this again. I am switching off beteen the e28 and e24 currently, they are quite different to drive.

Small update:
Got my tail light chrome bezels replaced to hopefully keep out the minor water leak from the trunk.
Also replaced aged rear view mirror, and adjusted idle speed.
Drove the car last weekend, and it was running great :) Now i will just have to get more pictures of it, especially with the wheels.
Nice and clean Engine Bay

The gold wheels really look good on a black 6 Series- great choice!
BTW- my uncle had a black 68 Charger in 1985- too bad he sold it and didn't know they are a classic going up in value worthy of $30K+
I swapped out the black wheels on the ///M for staggered silver Style 32's and currently looking for Rondell 58's.

Yes, this is how you can tell. Would be a ways backward of the oil filter:Mike , If I remember right the M90 has an L painted on the intake side of the block, and the water ports are bigger looking on the intake side too.

Small update... haven't driven her lately, but plan to soon. Have to put the working odometer back together first, but it will be nice to take it out again.
Here are some pictures just because I needed to look through due to withdrawl of not driving it since mid-November:

Small update. I finally got the odometer in working condition after multiple times of putting in and taking out. Put 25km on the car a couple of days ago.
Now i finally got some jack stands and was able to get underneath the car and examine the things I will be fixing on her.
One thing that bugged me seemed to be a droopyness of the front bumper and airdam. I got the car lifted on the jack stands and examined how it was attached. On the passenger side there is a bolt that wasn't tight, but it helps to hold the front end up. Overall there are 3 on this side so I tightened them accordingly. I tighted the loose one while positioning the bumper. This really helped to lift the whole assembly. The other side I repeated with the two bolts that held the bracket up.
Before:
After - Notice how the bumper surround line is much more parallel along the length of the fender:
I also found the reason for my steering deadzone. It is #12 in the following drawing:
The steering is tight expect where there is a little bit of play due to that piece.
Finally, I am working on replacing the guibo which was missing a chunk. Not sure if it is worthwhile to drop the front of the exhaust or not, because it is somewhat accessible. The ordered part is already on its way, but I am unsure the best way to remove these remaining bolts.
That's it for now. I still have a leak either from the gas tank itself or the connecting breather tubes. I couldn't determine from which this is occurring, but something I want to fix at some point.
Also the rust in the drain plugs of the floor boards is pretty bad. I am contemplating removing the seats and carpet to repair this after I get the guibo replaced. I am thinking some POR15 or rustoleum might be useful, but I have never gone through any sorts of rust repair before. I am not overly concerned with the fenders because they look ok, but I have a spare set now.

Just pulled the old guibo out. This is the first large repair I am doing myself, but it is going ok.
Old guibo-- I thought I heard a bang under the car at one point! That might explain the missing chunk.
Will be able to replace the guibo after just dropping the rear exhaust off the hangers and then taking out the two screws from under the CSB. The CSb actually looks really good, so I should be able to replace the guibo, make sure the driveshaft is aligned for balancing, and then put everything back together.
After I do this, I will change the oil and hopefully take it around the block.... Right now I'm just waiting on the part.
Still wondering how the appraoch the rust underneath the car. I know I will have to pull out the seats and carpet to get at the majority of it. That's something I will research. I am not a welder, so we will see what happens with that.

Another small update.
I found the "Laufzettel" code under the back rear seat and was able to find out some options that were produced with my car.
I also found that my Recaro seats and rear seat were originally Blue, and have been dyed black as some point!
But my car was manufactured in February 1980 and delivered on February 5th, 1980 to the German BMW branch in Saarbr?cken. The original color was Ozeanblau (Ocean blue), paint code 054.
The Laufzettel was able to tell me that my car has the following options:
Farbe 054 ? Ocean Blue
Polster 0108 ? Leather Pacific Blue
44.2 ? Automatic Radio Antenna
48.6 ? Radio: Bavaria Cassette Stereo Reverse VF
54.2 ? Electric Sliding/Vent Roof
57.1 ? Height-adjustable passenger seat
65.2 ? Electric and heated passenger mirror
75.5 ? Warning triangle and fire-extinguisher
Unfortunately I don't have the triangle or fire extinguisher, but I was able to learn a few things about my car!!

Good lookin' car!
Talk to Jeff Caplan at 'odometer gears ltd' I think. He fixes all the odometers. If that's not his website, go to 'firstfives.org'. Ask for him & he'll respond.
He'll also tell you NOT to re-set your mileage while the car is moving, even a lil bit. It rounds out the gears. That's why it became broken in the first place!
Good luck,,,,Greg

Haha, Spasso, it wasn't me, but it does add to the picture :)
Thanks Greg, I did talk to Jeff and was able to get my odometer working once again. I have put about 1000km on the car since.
I have definitely been wanting to drive it again, since it has been a few weeks while I have been moving.
