I like your work on the custom rear parcel shelf. Looks factory almost.

I've seen the catalog pics of Zbox, but never in a good photo. Great job on the refurb!

Thanks guys!

I tried my hand at stitching up a spare euro wheel I had. I ordered a kit from Alan Gun Leather. This was my first time doing this so my expectations were low  I originally was going to put it in my bench vise and do it like some pros do but decided to just do it on my kitchen table.
Cool thing about it was how clear your head gets with a project like this...nothing else to think about but the next stitch for a few hours.
Getting started...
Image

Little progress:
Image

The spokes are to be left unstitched until the end. This was difficult and getting it to seat without wrinkles was impossible for me but it is my understanding it mellows after use.

Have a sharp razor.

My original that is in pretty nice shape v my attempt...not perfect but feels really nice in hand and the leather is excellent. The smell makes it worth it!

So this was not to bad...razor a few hours and some pliers was all that was required. AGLA takes several weeks to get your product so don't expect over night service.

Good work. re the hood insulation, I didn't find the old insulation / glue material too bad. Did it with the hood in place. Interested to know though what glue you used for the new liner, or did you stay with the self adhesive foam?

Love the interior still, Dan.

Good work, We need soem better pictures of the painted car since it's been so long since your other images.

I need to do something similar with my 635, but have been biding my time hoping to get a place when I can work on it a bit more.

Did you glue the areas around the horn contacts? Here is a shot of mine that I used a 5-series sport wheel kit from Alan. I had received a kit without stiching so I retrofitted it to the 84 wheel. I did end up getting a wrinkle in it on the left side, next time I'll use more glue.

Chris my old foam was still very much intact so it was pretty stubborn. You have a better back than me to be able to do it on the car!:)
I used 3m heavy duty with the classic 9 e24 bonnet foam precut kit.

Well it has been a few since I updated so here is another installment
Finally pulled the trigger on a Nardi wheel after drooling over them for years, long over due. Great craftsmen ship and hand feel.
Image

Not long after the wheel went in I noticed a small coolant lose. The car ran fine other than a bit of stumble at cold start. One weekend i could now smell coolant and spied it leaking off the ever popular rear exhaust manifold location. I wasted no time and pulled the head the next morning.
Which piston do you think the coolant was going into? #-o

So a ton of cataloging and waiting for the parts train....
Image

Got the injectors back from injector rx first

Image

Some items from Maximilian took a while to source but eventually everything arrived, new e34 starter, alll new hoses, Elring head gasket kit, etc
Assembly went something like this...
Image
Head and manifold reunited
Image

Back in the shark

Buttoned up

Car runs better than it ever has. Now going back just before the hg shit the bed i finally removed those hideous fed markers us lucky US market owners of euros would often be blessed with:

Looking good. Like the new steering wheel and the body looks nicer without the side reflectors.

Nice update.
What color is the car and did you machine the heads or do any valve work before reinstalling them?

Thank you!
It is delphin metallic. The head was checked, but required nothing other cleaning up.
