Bronzit beige shark in Sydney

Post by orlando »

I just love these cars!! I have a Bronzit Beige 1985 M635 with a S38 engine and bought for my son a 1986 635CSI automatic in Cirrus Blue color. Bought them both from the same guy who had some other BMWs and hardly drove the 635s. When I picked the M635 up, it had a mear 105000 Kms on the clock and the CSI had 156000.

The M635 was neglected a bit and I spotted some rust in the engine bay area as well as some in the trunk lid (in Australia they call it boot!) Which I intend to fix. The car is going to get a respray at the beginning of June.

I removed the front and rear bumpers as I am getting them rechromed and the back pieces replaced as they were rusted. I am also replacing the rubber inserts of the front bumper.

With the help of Ron (from this forum) I removed the M-technic rubber spoiler as I am restoring it as it has some scratches and it also shows its age. I will post pictures tomorrow for the before and after views.

The car is otherwise sound and mechanically, the only problem I have noticed in the short drives I had is the very well known shaking issue at over 100k that has been spoken about so many times in this forum. I will be tackling that issue once the car has been repainted.

Here some pictures of my beautiful shark:

Welcome to bigcoupe Orlando. Its great to see another car in Australia, and looking forward to seeing pics of the Cirrus car too.

Hopefully you can bring them both along on one of our cruises sometime.

Regards,
Ellis.

Thanks Ellis, I would love to get involved with you guys and have my son also participating. The bronzit car should be ready in a couple of months and this will coincide with my son getting his Ps.

Here are some pictures of the 635CSI:

She is back!!!!

Post by orlando »

After a long wait for the girl to come back from surgery (she left on the 1st of June) she has finally arrived!!

A major makeover was done on her, new paint, few rusted parts replaced, all seals new, new chrome bits and bumper rubber inserts. The roof lining replaced and all the interior refreshed.

As with all the girls, this I reckon is the best side of her!!

Thanks Ron, I am very pleased with the whole job, there are a few little things that need attention but not major things.

I've got the M stripes through a company in USA, their web address is eeuroparts.com I know he (Robert Webster) had to source them from Germany. The right door and the trunk lid were not available, so I ordered two of the left door.

I have the parts numbers if you need them.

Regards, Orlando.

That looks sensational Orlando, it is still one of my favourite colours for an E24. The numberplates and the MTechnik stripes really complete the look.
Can't wait to see it in person.

Now it just needs a winding mountain road somewhere to stretch its legs on !!!!!!

(Now if I could only get SteadfastHub to sponsor a new leather interior for mine, haha !)

Absolutely Paul. I was disapointed that the car was not ready for the recent Sydney ride but I know that there is another coming up in January, so I can't wait!!

Well, the number plates was your and Ellis contribution and they look good and the colours fit nicely.

I will see if I can do something about that leather interior you want, perhaps start a fund!!!

Hi Ron,

These are the part numbers for the M-Technic stripes with the price I was quoted and paid to eeuroparts.com:

51141935501 DECORATING STRIPES FENDER FRONT LEFT $22.28
51141935502 DECORATING STRIPES FENDER FRONT RIGHT $22.28
51141935503 DECORATING STRIPES DOOR LEFT $56.10
51141935504 DECORATING STRIPES DOOR RIGHT N/A
51141935505 DECORATING STRIPES FENDER REAR LEFT $22.81
51141935506 DECORATING STRIPES FENDER REAR RIGHT $22.81
51141935507 DECORATING STRIPES TRUNK LID N/A

As the ddor right and trunk lid are not longer available, I ordered 2 more of the left door to complete the set.

Regards, Orlando.

Thanks Greg. Yes, I am happy with the way it looks, now I need to polish those wheels, give it a good clean to the engine and replace spark plugs and it will be ready to be enjoyed.

Thanks Patrick. I am waiting for one more piece, the one that goes in the front spoiler. I think you are right, I haven't seen any M-technic stripes here in Australia. Having seen your car inspired me to get the stripes and I am very pleased I did. You also helped me to sort out the ones I needed, so thank you for that.

Best regards, Orlando.
